Old Montreal

MontrealThis newly renovated house has to be the hottest property on the market in Old Montreal. Stunningly designed by London designer Denis Blais, it possesses a surprising marriage of charm, with and incredible boldness. It is a must see property.

The 18th century building has 5 levels and a roof top terrace with a beautified and rare view of the Old Port. Every floor has been redesigned with simple but highly innovative Ideas through the use of modern, rustic, and plain everyday materials.

The ground floor and basement are meant to be used as an entertainment and main reception room. It has polished French rubber floor and a large red Chinese lacquered table with a huge Halo-like chandelier. All are one off designs for the house. The furniture includes several design classics such as the statuette chair and Arco light. The white leather chairs and white divans are designed by Jasper Morrison. This Oval shaped room has also a complete audio visual system that can be hidden behind a screen panel.

The kitchen is ideally located on the floor above so as to be able to cater if required to the ground floor. It can be accessed by the elevator or by the original dark wood staircase. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped to cook professionally. It has four fridges and Garland gas fired stove, grill and oven. At the heart of this level is a large 2 ½ inch thick solid maple top table that can seat 12. It has stunning views of the rue St-Paul. It also has its own toilet and Corian counter sink top.

The next level is the guest bedroom and salon. The level is cleverly divided into two spaces one a bedroom and the other a lounge. With its bright candy apple green floors this floor is ideal for a guest bedroom and or children. It has a pull out divan that can act as an additional bed. The salon also has its full audio visual system which has been fitted into a moveable console. The bathroom is situated in the old vault of the building . It has been designed with polished green ebony counter and Japanese bathtub which has a white corian interior. The bedroom has its own large wardrobes.

The 4th floor is entirely dedicated to playing the role as the Master bedroom. Almost impossible to describe it has strong but peaceful details that are designed to impress. Its chocolate brown floors have beautiful white objects that play center role. The bathtub is situated at the end of a large king size bed. The huge tub is mad of ultra soft white corian and has kits own Scandinavian blue glass sky light directly above it. One has the impression of walking into a spa rather than a bedroom. The room also has its own gas fireplace and shower room. Complete with yellow glass sink and Vola shower fittings. The white spiral staircase takes you to the rooftop terrace. This level also has four large wardrobes hidden behind a thick large green glass which acts as a partition between the bed and this section of the room. One has a 180 degree view of the upper parts of Old Montreal buildings from bed. If that is to boring one can watch his audio/visual program from the self contained Sony DVD etc tower mobile unit.

The rooftop is simple and a gas fitting outlet has been installed for cooking. The view cannot be purchased but comes included with the house.
